Janurary Reading Wrap Up!

I managed to read a total of 13 books in Janurary! I usually do a lot more, but life got in the way and Glass Sword put me in a terrible reading slump, which I might have put it down before I even managed to hit 50 percent. Not sure if I’m going to go back to it, which sucks because I managed to snag a signed copy.

Anyways, here we are in the order I read them!

Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This is the sequel to Illuminae, which I also loved and became obsessed with. Don’t want to get too much into detail because of spoilers, (obviously) but solid 5 stars. I loved the artwork in both of these books!

Bright Side (Bright Side #1) by Kim Holden
This one was a mistake. I like to go into my new adult books blind but now I’m scared to pick another one up! This book was FANTASTIC but due to somethings that are currently going on in my life, this hit a little too close to home. I do however plan on picking the sequel, Gus, up eventually. 5 stars

Ivory and Bone (Ivory and Bone #1) by Julie Eshbaugh
I used my December audible credit for this and it was..just okay. It took a while for me to get into it because of the second person perscpective and I felt a little creeped out when I was driving to work with Kol saying things like “You did this, I did that, then you did this” It’s a prehistoric romance, and I did enjoy it, so I will be picking the next one up..in book form. 3.5 stars.

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn
This was a freebie from my book of the month club subscription. I read it in one sitting in an afternoon that I ended up having to call out of work because of a allergic reaction. Benadryl’d up me enjoyed but wants to know when she’s going to come out with another damn book! Come on now! I’m not a patient person! 4 stars.

Wayfarer (Passenger #2) by Alexandra Bracken
This book was one that I waited ten million forevers to come out! I read the first book, which started me off on this whole Alexandra Bracken kick, but I really enjoyed it. I loved how everything wrapped up well, it just made my heart smile. Alsooo, amazon let me down with my preorder so I ended up going to Target on release day to get a signed copy and now I have two copies of the same book, but this one is just so pretty, I really don’t mind. 5 stars.

Prisoner of Ice and Snow by Ruth Lauren
I read this in a two hour time slot at work.  It was the first middle grade that I’ve read in a while. I really enjoyed it for what it was. However, I am upset because I traded my copy on the #booksfortrade hashtag on twitter, and I guess a postal service worker wanted it too, because it an empty envelope was delieverd to the girl that I was trading with. 3.5 stars.

Ever the Hunted (Clash of Kingdoms #1) by Erin Summerill
Super don’t want to ruin this one, but I really enjoyed this one. I kept hearing that it was a Robin Hood retelling from somewhere, but it’s not. Don’t let that disappoint you! It’s still really good. I am really looking forward to the sequel after that ending. 4 stars.

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
One of the things that I’m trying to do this  year is read more adult books. Book of the Month is helping with that goal and this one of the books I added on to my subscription. I LOVED this book. I’ve read on goodreads where people were saying that they guessed the ending before page 100, but I must be an idiot because I didn’t see that ending coming at all! 3.5 stars

Windwitch (The Witchlands #2) by Susan Dennard
I think I might have screamed when I finally got this one in my hands. Take that back. I did scream a very happy fangirl scream. Just assume I loved it, because I did. 5 stars.

The Assassin’s Blade (Throne of Glass #0.1-0.5) by Sarah J Maas
This was the audiobook I started after Ivory and Bone and I loved it. However when certian things happened, I might have walked into work crying because my heart was broken. Yes, I’m pretty sure my coworkers judged me more than a little bit. 5 stars.

History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
I already have a blog post on this one, but hello! I loved it! 5 stars.

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
I’m going to suggest and demand that you go into this blind except the fact that this book begins with the line of “This is how I kill someone” I’m not sure how this one flew under my radar but I am super happy that I finally picked it up because I really enjoyed it. 4 stars.

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir
I started this on audiobook, and I did enjoy what I did listen to. However, I can read a lot faster than the audiobook can read to me at, and I was addicted to the story, so I picked it up in ebook format and flew through it. I loved it. I loved it enough that I already bought and read A Torch Against the Night. 5 stars.
