Breakwater | Catherine Jones Payne

Okay, so some you know that I went to World Fantasy Convention in Texas this past weekend. It was great and a lot of fun even though I was having anxiety attacks just about every day. I’m still recovering from that, so my actual post about the *experience* will have to wait a few more days.

I got books, a lot of books. Enough books to make my heart and soul very happy. Some I bought, some were given to me. PEOPLE GAVE ME BOOKS. I’m still stuck on that. This is the first book that I’ve read from my stash. I LOVED this book. The entire time I was reading it, it didn’t feel like a book about a debut author!

Here’s the Goodreads synopsis:

A red tide is rising.

As the daughter of one of the mer-king’s trusted advisors, seventeen-year-old Jade has great responsibilities. When her fiancé murders a naiad, plunging the underwater city of Thessalonike into uproar, tensions surge between the mer and the naiads. Jade learns too late that the choices she makes ripple further than she’d ever imagined. And as she fights against the tide of anger in a city that lives for scandal, she discovers danger lurking in every canal, imperiling her family and shattering the ocean’s fragile peace.

Can the city’s divisions be mended before the upwelling of hate rips apart everything Jade loves?

Okay, so we’re going to take THAT and then look at that GORGEOUS cover and go “Okay, I would have picked this baby up too. ” This book reminded me a lot of the Winner’s Curse trilogy, but in a very good way! (I happened to love the Winner’s Curse, so it could never be in a bad way..) ANYWAYS. I’m already planning on buying a friend a copy of this book because I am sure she would love it just as much.

Again, SO GOOD. Get you a copy and read this bad boy!

4/5 stars! Looking forward to the sequel and will probably reread again!

Drumline by Stacy Kestwick

I found this gem on kindle unlimited, and I haven’t found many books lately on there that I truly enjoyed.. But hopefully this was a end of that problem. This book is a new adult romance, and I loved every minute of it. I was in marching band throughout high school, and it’s one of the things that have helped shaped me into the person that I am today, so getting to relive parts of that band mate bond was really fun and I really enjoyed getting to do that.

Traditions are important. Especially in the South.

College football. Rivalries. Tailgating. Halftime shows.

Some things just don’t change.

Until Reese Holland shows up with her long legs and no-bullsh*t attitude to audition for the prestigious all-male Rodner University snare line.

It doesn’t matter how much hazing she has to endure from Laird Bronson, with his narrowed green eyes and arrogant smirk. She wants that damn spot, and she’s more than good enough to earn it.

She expects there to be tension. Even friction.

But not sparks hot enough to burn the entire campus down.

***Drumline is a standalone college romance.
This has became my FAVORITE new adult romance. It’s perfect, and I think I’m going to look up Stacy Kestwick and go on a reading binge. It was everything I wanted and needed plus some.

5 out of 5 stars! (Seriously, I neverrr rate new adult books this high! <3)

Reading, Watching, Listening, & Trying

Currently Reading,Watching, Listening to, & Trying (#1)

I found this here and loved the idea so much, I decided to take it and do it myself! Here we gooooo!

Currently Reading: Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
I LOVE Outlander and waiting for the show to come out each week is wearing on my patience! I have loved every book that I have read in this series thus far. Dragonfly in Amber was my least favorite, but I think this is becoming my favorite because of the location that they’re at.

Currently Watching: Game of Thrones, season 3. I’m slowly making my way through this show. I was confused on why everyone was obsessed with it but I’m starting to learn why! Also, the books that I’ve read out of this series are all fantastic! I’ve been into really long epic fantasies lately and this one does hit the bill!

Currently Listening to:

Life Changes- Thomas Rhett
Young & Crazy- Frankie Ballard
Happy Endings- Old Dominion

Currently Trying:

Yall know how I was in that wreck? (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read this) Anyways! I hurt my knee and I feel like this is making a major difference in the pain I’m dealing with concerning walking. I bought it from walmart, here’s a link

So this was an enjoyable way for me to get some content out on my blog, hopefully, this is something that I can keep up for a minute!

Enjoy! ❤

Life updates

I was in a car wreck last week :(

This post isn’t going to be related to reading- unfortunately. Instead, I’m going to use this space to kind of journal my feelings at the moment.
Let me start from the beginning.
On August 28th, I signed papers on a brand spankin’ new Jeep Renegade Latitude.
I named her Khaleesi.
Here’s a picture of her in the car lot, is she not GORGEOUS?!

Anyways, I have quite enjoyed her. This was the first vehicle I have ever gotten into and enjoyed driving. I have loved driving her.

Here comes the bad part.
On last Monday (September 18th), I got into an accident. The other driver was drunk and drugged and well. This is their car. Or what’s left of it.

They crossed into my lane, and then well did that. Unfortunately, Khaleesi didn’t make it out unscathed. She does have some damage but NOTHING like the other car. Most of the damage to me happened to the undercarriage but here’s my jeep. The tire is not turned, that’s a bent axle.

I feel SO lucky to even be alive right now, I was hurt some physically, but for the past week, I have been having pretty much near constant anxiety attacks, and nightmares from hell. I was hurt some

Obviously, I haven’t felt like reading lately.

A Darker Shade of Magic | V.E Schwab

a darker shade of magic

Goodreads Synopsis

Kell is one of the last Antari—magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black.

Kell was raised in Arnes—Red London—and officially serves the Maresh Empire as an ambassador, traveling between the frequent bloody regime changes in White London and the court of George III in the dullest of Londons, the one without any magic left to see.

Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they’ll never see. It’s a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.

After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.

Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they’ll first need to stay alive.
